Description
Hand forged primitive ladle – this is an Iron and copper/metal hook tail ladle or dipper. Perfect for rustic decor design.
The handle is iron and the ladle portion is copper and may be mixed with another metal.
The forger had their initials “ME” inscribed on the bottom of the ladle portion.
The handle is quite long – this is to keep the person’s hands and arms out of reach of flames and coals! This has a loop – the hook tail- at the end of the handle for threading a piece of twine, wire, or leather for easy hanging.
The dipper portion holds about 1.5 cups of liquid – this is an approximate measurement!
The dipper measures about 6″ across. This may have been used in a forging shop or smelting – has a wonderful patina inside the dipper with some drips of blue – unsure as to what it is and has clearly been used. Beautiful!
The amount of work that goes into creating a hand forged ladle is incredible! This piece has obviously lasted for years and years and it’s still usable – cosplay, cooking, camping, or purely decorative and a piece of history and craftsmanship.
