Websites – Links to all kinds of cool stuff online

I spend time in finding neat things online that I like but sometimes I don’t have enough time to really dig into a site. So, I have this list of random stuff to check back on. Food, design, travel, local things, it’s basically an old fashioned links page!

Showing my age here – like back in the day at Geocities – ugh. Please, hand me my walker.  👵

Here you go!  links to sites to revisit and read – please feel free to email me and share your own cool sites!

TRAVEL

I have so so so so so many places to see still that I find it quite difficult to narrow it down.

Out and About – Hiking, Trails, Maps #getoutside #yearofthetrail2023

I love being outside and hiking to see new places, smell the outdoor air – something about that smell is what relaxes my brain and makes my heart happy. You have that really deep “green” smell, like a forest primeval – like I can stand and just huff the air like a fiend to get as much flooded into my body as possible. Then, you have the sweet “grassy, hay” smell that reminds me of growing up in an area that had little disturbed and it’s just a balm to my heart and soul.

Here’s a couple lists of trail places to help keep things interesting:

Dark Sky Place – you want to smell those smells and just relish the lack of noise, light, and human pollution, then these are your sites. I want to go here this spring.

Find A NC State Park – love this little map. NC is always broken up into: Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal.

Using Google To Plan Your Next Trip

Google is the supreme king of jerks for many reasons but it’s a fact that they provide a lot of cool stuff. This is one of them:

Track busy times so you can get the most out of your time on vacation or just your free time in general – for someone like me who is absolutely obsessed with time it’s a neat feature

This person shares their planning tips and ideas using Google’s Slide, Sheet, Knowledge Panel, etc. The –  “Kiss – Please” she found –  sold me on linking to her article. I actually use the google map myself just around my own area when not on vacation – it’s a neat tool to find places that are not considered mainstream or super popular. Sometimes, people are just too people-y.

Antiques & Junkin

I spent many days with my Grandmother when I was younger and she LOVED any and all sales – garage sales, yard sales, auctions, estate sales, junk stores – you name it, we went! I still love doing that and I see so many things that remind me of my Grandparents and my Mom too. This current obsession isn’t just current, i’ve always loved it!

There are tons of places nearby in Raleigh/Cary/Wake Forest and so I made myself a map of them
