Description
Single Well Brass Inkwell and Pen Holder – marked “AUSTRIA” on the bottom portion of the inkwell and
the bottom front lip has “Ges Gesch” stamped into the brass. This is the abbreviation for Gesetzlich Geschutzt, a German phrase used after 1899 meaning legally patented or registered – meaning this design was protected by law and can’t be copied. Though some folks say that stamp indicates 1847-1899.
Considering the age of this item – it’s in fair shape. Has a small dent that pokes outward on the lid of the inkwell and some discoloration of the brass – see photos for full understanding of item’s condition.
