This small round measuring tape is still going strong after many years of use! J.T. Thorpe & Sons, Inc. is one of the oldest (and largest) refractory companies in the US – over a 100 years. The name of the company is J.T. Thorpe & Sons. This clearly shows singular “Son” so I imagine that’s even more helpful in dating this item properly.
Super cool piece of advertising memorabilia from the 1930s/1940s and still has the ability to open and track back in the housing properly. It doesn’t “snap” like newer models – you have to push it back in. See video. Please note that we did not pull it out to it’s full length and some of the numbers are difficult to read where it’s been used over the years metal on metal wear.
