Went to a Barenaked Ladies concert with my BFF from work.

Barenaked Ladies Concert!
If I had a Million Dollars…..
Birthday is coming: turning the big 4-0 on Monday!
Things are going okay. Funny how things work out. I’m super content with most aspects of the majority of things right now. Makes me wonder what the hell is going to happen next.

Wow. Tired this morning. It’s been so cold the past week or so. Crazy cold for this area. My jeep almost didn’t start this morning. NOT GOOD. Cold kills batteries too yeah? Ugh.
It’s dry and parched, my skin isn’t loving the weather. I need to make time to sit in the steam room at north ridge. i need some humidity!
God I miss summer.
I’m also feeling less than stellar physically. Ugh. Not loving my skin or body right now. I look older than I feel. Haven’t been sleeping well. Gah. Moving on. moving on.
Trying to psych myself up, listening to feel good songs.

I’m still listening to music although i find it harder to find new artists I love. I hate relying on my teenager’s ring-tones and Billboard’s stuff.
I do like mainstream stuff though.
Bruno Mar’s is a good example.
Just The Way You Are.
Great beat, sweet vocals, and simply direct lyrics.
Even the relatively simple song “Again” has some great hooks in it.
Grenade
I love how the beat kicks in after the first few lines hit. and then the drum beat in the chorus is deep enough and hard enough to catch my attention.
Today My Life Begins
I love the direct guitar licks and piano keys….sort of boyband meets gospel meets folk kind of a thing. It starts out sounding a bit like a David Gray song with the music and then kicks in with the voice of Bruno, the gospel feel comes from the chorus.
Love this:
i will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
leave the past behind me, today my life begins
a whole new world is waiting it’s mine for the takin
i know i can make it, today my life begins
And Ke$ha. I LOVE this girl and her songs. So much fun with great beats. I can listen to almost all her songs and they resonate something, even if it’s only to jump up, turn the strobes on and dance.
This hook of music sounds a little familiar….something from the 80′s is what my mind keeps bringing up. Can’t quite place it though:
Cause you’ve been blowing me up on my cellyphone.
Tryina get a little love, tryina get me alone.
Cause if you wanna get a piece of this heart of mine.
Boy stop, Get In Line.
While You Were Sleeping
One of my top favorites. A ballad that shows she actually has a beautiful voice. My favorite line: “While you were sleeping, I was wandering with the lonely people…”
So far away, from the place where I feel safe
I can’t recall, the beauty in your face
The distance between us it sews its dirty seed
spreading inside of me with every breath i breathe
While sleepin I was wandering with the lonely people
While were, tryin to fill the void you left
Life is short and the nights are long, and tonight
I moved on while were sleepin.
A stranger for the night so I don’t wake up alone(all alone)
to fake what we had, but it doesn’t feel like home.
The distance between us, grows its dirty seeds
consuming my insides with every breath I breathe
Whileyou sleepin, I was wandering with the lonely people
Whileyou sleepin, tryin to fill the void you left
life is short and the nights are long, and tonight I moved on- while you were sleeping.
Dont look for me, dont wait for me, i found my path
(while you were sleepin )over sticks and stones, over broken bones I wont look back
while you were sleepin)there’s a place for you somewhere in my heart, but thats the past.
While you were sleepin I was wandering with the lonely people,
While you were sleepin, trying to fill the void you left
Life is short and the nights are long, and tonight I moved on- while you were sleeping .
Lady Gaga
I don’t care how crazy she presents herself, she is bringing back the “push the envelope” stuff for this time like Madonna did for her time.
Speechless is one of my favorites. I love the duet type thing she did with Elton John for this song too. I think she is just incredibly gifted. I love that she learned the piano on her own.
One Republic is a new find within the last year as well. After going through the list of their songs, I can’t believe how many are or have been played on the radio.
One that I hadn’t heard ’til recently: Say (All I Need), Dreamin, and Good Life.
